What's New

New updates and improvements to TKG Analytics

Current Students SLAIF View

Improvement
The new Current Students SLAIF View is a searchable, filterable table of your currently enrolled students and their SLAIF scores, so you no longer have to cross-reference reports to see how this year's students did on last year's state assessment.
  • Student names, schools, grades, and scale scores and performance levels for English and math.
  • Teachers, school leaders and district admins each see only their own students.
  • District and school leaders can filter by teacher.
  • Export to CSV or PDF.

Direct CSV Uploads from Your Student Information System

New
District admins, and anyone with the Uploader add-on, can now upload the CSV files exported from your student information system (SIS) straight into TKG Analytics.
  • Every required file: enrollments, students, schedules, schools and teachers.
  • No manual steps: uploaded files are processed automatically, usually within a few minutes, and you get an email when the import finishes.

Custom Calculations for Assessment Performance

Improvement
Districts can now set their own performance calculations for their assessments instead of using the vendor's.
  • District-level: custom calculations are set once for the whole district, so every school and teacher is measured the same way.
  • Flows through: once set, they feed your impacts and accountability projections automatically.

Expanded Support for Multiple Assessment Vendors

New
TKG Analytics now imports assessment data from several commonly used testing vendors, and a district can combine data from more than one of them. Your projections and performance analytics stay accurate whichever assessments your district gives.

Using a vendor we don't support yet? Open a helpdesk ticket, and we'll work with you on a plan to add it.

Impact Data Now Aligned to State N-Count Rules

Update
District and school impacts now follow your state's N-count rules: a student group below the minimum size is left out of projections and accountability reporting, as it would be in the state's own calculation.

Grade-level and teacher-level impacts are exempt and still show all available data, whatever the group size, so teachers and school leaders keep the detail they need for planning.

Support for Non-Traditional High Schools and Block Scheduling

Improvement
Projected accountability now fully supports Non-Traditional High Schools (NTHS) and 4x4 block-scheduled high schools.
  • NTHS: schools flagged as NTHS are calculated with the adjusted accountability model the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) specifies.
  • 4x4 block scheduling: growth and proficiency account for the semester course patterns of a 4x4 schedule.
  • Month 8 enrollment: enter and review each NTHS's Month 8 enrollment, the official count MDE uses as the denominator for NTHS accountability.

Score Exclusions for EL Students and Retesters

New
Some students take a benchmark or state assessment but should not count in the accountability model. You can now mark those scores as excluded:
  • EOC retesters
  • Qualifying English Learner (EL) students under the state's exclusion rules
Mark a student for exclusion from the student views with one click. Excluded scores don't count toward proficiency, growth or any other accountability component.

Need another kind of exclusion? Open a helpdesk ticket and tell us about it.

EL Subgroup Projection Slider

Improvement
Impacts with a qualifying English Learner (EL) component now have an EL projection slider. Move it to adjust projected EL performance, and your projected accountability score and letter grade update as you go, so you can model scenarios and plan toward your EL targets.

District and school users with access to the impact dashboard see the slider on qualifying impacts automatically.

Current Low Performing Students

Improvement
The Current Low Performing Students (LPS) page has been rebuilt to give schools a clearer picture of their LPS populations.
  • Updated nightly from your SIS enrollment data.
  • Counts at a glance: total ELA LPS, ELA SPED LPS, math LPS and math SPED LPS, with MAAP-A counts where they apply.
  • Student-level detail, including grade, subject and performance category.
  • Exports to CSV and PDF.
  • Cutoff scores used to classify LPS, shown right on the page.

EL Subgroup Configuration

New
Districts and schools can now set whether they have an English Learner (EL) subgroup, following the Mississippi Department of Education accountability rules.
  • EL subgroup setting: record the years your district or school has an EL subgroup.
  • Projections that follow it: your projected accountability score reflects whether the EL subgroup counts.
  • EL Breakeven Point: the minimum EL Progress points, from the ELPT growth model, needed to keep your current projected rating.
Scoring above your breakeven point can add accountability points. Scoring below it won't lower your current projected score or letter grade.

Spring 2024 Accountability Calculation Adjustments

Improvement
Starting with spring 2024, projected accountability ratings follow the latest Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards: no accountability component can exceed its maximum allocated points.

List of Current Low Performing Students

Improvement
Your current low performing students (LPS) are now calculated for you every night, so the list keeps up as enrollment changes. Open the Current Low Performing Students module from your homepage whenever you need it.

Teachers see the module only if they teach a subject with an LPS cohort: ELA or math in grades 4 through 8, English II, or Algebra I.

MAAP-A Scores

Improvement
In line with the updated Mississippi Department of Education accountability rules (pages 32, 35 and 40), TKG Analytics now stores and displays MAAP-A scores. District and school users have a new MAAP-A Student Overview module that lists your MAAP-A students and their scores on the alternate assessment.

Automated Rostering

Improvement
Rostering is now fully automated. Teachers, students, users and enrollments have always come from your student information system (SIS), but a person had to run the update each day. Now it runs every night on its own.

If something is missing when you sign in, check the SIS Files view to see when each file last arrived, and check with your district's SIS point of contact. If the problem persists, open a helpdesk ticket.

Third Grade Pass Rates

New
District and school users have a new Third Grade Pass Rates module. It shows how your teachers and students are preparing for the 3rd Grade MAAP ELA Assessment (formerly the 3rd Grade Gate), down to the student level, so you can plan ahead of the test.

Full Academic Year Updates

Improvement
Full academic year (FAY) status has been overhauled.
  • The data tracker can filter to students who meet FAY status, or to those who don't, in one click.
  • Starting this year, students who do not meet FAY status are not counted in district and school projected accountability ratings.

Faster Data Trackers

Improvement
The data tracker has been rebuilt to be faster and easier to work with.
  • Better filtering to narrow the rows you see.
  • Live search that updates as you type.
  • Sortable columns: click any header to sort ascending or descending.

Historical Performance

New
You can now see how your district, schools and teachers have performed over time. The Historical Performance overview shows your impact data as graphs and tables, and every graph and table can be exported.

Automatic Sign Out After Inactivity

Improvement
To protect student data, you are now signed out after a period of inactivity, currently 30 minutes, and returned to the sign-in page. This keeps personally identifiable information (PII) out of reach of anyone who walks up to an unattended screen.

Missing SLAIF Scores

Update
District and school users can now see every student without a prior-year SLAIF score. The SLAIF (Student Level Accountability Information File) is released each school year by the Mississippi Department of Education, and a student without a SLAIF score is not counted in the growth component.

Open the SLAIF Scores page and choose Missing SLAIF Scores to list these students, and export the list to CSV or PDF. District admins can also enter a missing score by hand.
